The Memory Hunt (Episode)

From Rebellious Projects Wiki

The Memory Hunt is the fifteenth episode of Rebellious Projects' Doctor Who as Imperfection's Cure came before it.

Synopsis

A last minute vacation for the TARDIS team turns into an unexpected murder investigation with a familiar presence.

Plot

The Doctor and co. arrive on Clom, where they seek a much needed vacation. However, soon the Doctor discovers a murder within the leisure centre and quickly springs into action. At the same time, Simon and Liz are kidnapped by the Mind Leech, enemies of The Doctor from a future yet to unfold, who feed off fear and negative emotions. After launching a massacre on the guests at the leisure centre, The Mind Leech kidnaps the Doctor, where their king reveals how after the death of Adam Jones (WBP: The Feast) - he was scattered into pieces, and built himself back together, to find that he was stranded on Clom. Since then, the Mind Leech have been draining the guests of the leisure centre of their minds to fuel their ship, and they begin to drain the minds of Simon and Liz.

Inside their memories, Simon finds himself confronting the death of his mother, whilst Liz finds herself in the midst of a Dalek attack. The Doctor is able to enter Simon's memories to help guide him out, however he's unable to do the same for Liz, and instead encourages her to focus on the good times of their adventures together. Once both of his companions are safe, The Doctor overloads the Mind Leech hive-mind, causing the ship to explode just after The Doctor and his friends escape.

Elsewhere in time, The 20th Doctor has an outburst of rage at his companions in his TARDIS, having just witnessed Adam Jones sacrifice himself. Once he's alone in the console room, this Doctor then has flashbacks to the events that transpired on Clom, which causes him to question whether Adam's sacrifice had caused those events, before then returning back to his own matters as his TARDIS goes off into the time vortex.

Trivia

  • This episode serves as a prequel to Whoblocks Productions' multi-Doctor crossover story Contingency, in which TheRebelOfTime and TheGingerDoctor both reprise their roles as the Sixteenth and Fourteenth Doctors respectively.
  • Despite the clear connections to Whoblocks' two-part story Terror of the Mind Leech/The Feast, as well of the appearance of their Twentieth Doctor, the ending is left intentionally vague, since Rebellious Projects have their own timeline of Doctors which differs to Whoblocks Productions' timeline, potentially implying some multiverse shenanigans involved.
